Mixpanel alternatives in India: a practical 2026 guide

If you run a product team in India and you're looking past Mixpanel, the hard part isn't finding tools — it's finding one that fits how Indian startups actually pay and operate: a bill you can budget in rupees, a GST invoice, UPI or netbanking, and analytics your whole team can read without SQL. This is a practical guide to the options and how to choose.

The categories, not just a list

"Mixpanel alternative" covers a few different kinds of tool. Knowing which category you need saves a lot of trial accounts.

1. Product analytics (the direct swap). Event-based tools for funnels, retention, user profiles and flows — the things most teams use Mixpanel for. This is the category you want if you're replacing Mixpanel like for like. Amplitude, PostHog and ClickLens live here.

2. Web/marketing analytics. Google Analytics 4 and similar answer where traffic comes from, not what users do inside your product. They're complementary to product analytics, not a replacement — we wrote about the difference in GA4 vs product analytics.

3. Session replay and heatmaps. Microsoft Clarity, Hotjar and others show you individual sessions. Useful, but they answer "what did this one person do" rather than "how do 10,000 people move through my funnel." More on that in Clarity vs ClickLens.

Most teams leaving Mixpanel actually want category 1. So that's where this guide focuses.

What to compare

When you're weighing product-analytics tools as an Indian team, five things matter more than feature-count:

  • Pricing model. Fixed/included-events vs pure usage-based. Usage-based bills rise exactly when you're busiest, which makes forecasting hard.
  • Currency and invoicing. Billed in INR with a GST-ready invoice, or in USD with forex markup every renewal?
  • Payment methods. UPI, netbanking and Indian cards — or international cards only?
  • Team model. Per-seat pricing adds up fast; unlimited seats let you invite everyone.
  • Ease for non-technical users. Can a PM build a funnel without writing SQL, or is it a data-team tool?

The main options

Amplitude — a mature, powerful product-analytics platform, strong on behavioural cohorts and experimentation. It's a serious tool, with pricing and contracts (and support) pitched at larger companies; billing is in USD. A good fit if you're well-funded and want depth; heavier than many early teams need.

PostHog — open-source and developer-first, bundling product analytics, session replay, feature flags and experiments. Usage-based pricing with a generous free tier; self-hosting is possible if you have the engineering appetite. Great for technical teams who want everything in one toolbox and don't mind usage-based bills in USD.

ClickLens — product analytics built for Indian teams: funnels, retention, user profiles, flows, boards, experiments and an AI analyst, with events included in every plan at a fixed price in rupees, UPI/netbanking, and a proper invoice. No per-seat price, every feature on every plan, and a free tier of 2 million events a month. Built for teams that want Mixpanel-style analytics they can budget for. (That's us — we've tried to be fair about where the others fit.)

Google Analytics 4 — free and ubiquitous, but it's web/marketing analytics. If what you need is product behaviour, it's the wrong category, not a cheaper option.

How pricing compares at a glance

The biggest practical difference is fixed vs usage-based, and rupees vs dollars:

What you care about Usage-based, USD tools ClickLens
Next quarter's bill Varies with traffic Known in advance
Currency USD + forex markup INR, no markup
Payment International card UPI, netbanking, card
Invoice USD, foreign Rupee invoice, GST-ready
Busy month Bill can multiply Adds a little

A simple way to choose

  • Well-funded, want maximum depth and have a data team? Amplitude.
  • Technical team that wants analytics, replay and flags in one open-source stack? PostHog.
  • Want Mixpanel-style product analytics you can budget for, in rupees, that your whole team can use? ClickLens.
  • Only need to know where traffic comes from? You want GA4, not a Mixpanel alternative at all.

Switching is quicker than you think

ClickLens accepts events in Mixpanel's format, so you can move without rewriting your tracking, and import your history. The practical steps are in how to switch from Mixpanel and the import guide.
