A PostHog alternative for teams who want answers, not a toolbox

PostHog is a powerful open-source suite for developers. If you want product analytics your whole team can use, with one predictable bill in rupees instead of per-product usage in dollars, here's how ClickLens compares.

A PostHog alternative for teams who want answers, not a toolbox

PostHog has earned its reputation. It's open source, developer-first, and bundles a lot into one product: analytics, session replay, feature flags, experiments, surveys and a data warehouse. For an engineering-led team that wants to own its whole stack, it's a strong choice.

But "a lot in one product" cuts both ways. If you're looking at alternatives, it's usually for one of three reasons.

Why teams look past PostHog

Every product is billed separately, by usage. PostHog prices each product on its own meter — analytics events, replay recordings, flag requests, survey responses — each with a free monthly allowance and usage pricing above it, billed in US dollars. That's fair and transparent, but forecasting the total means forecasting four or five meters, and from India every one of them carries forex markup. Check posthog.com/pricing for current allowances and rates.

It's built for engineers first. PostHog's power shows up in SQL, HogQL and a very wide feature surface. That's ideal for developers, and harder for a PM, founder or marketer who just wants to see this week's funnel without learning the tool.

Self-hosting is real work. The open-source edition is a genuine option, but running and upgrading an analytics stack at scale is an ongoing infrastructure job. Most teams end up on PostHog Cloud anyway.

What ClickLens does differently

ClickLens covers the same core jobs — and is deliberately narrower in how it asks you to work:

  • The reports most teams actually use: insights, funnels, retention, flows and user profiles, built by clicking, not querying.
  • Session replay and heatmaps next to those reports, so you can go from "how many dropped off" to "watch what they did".
  • Feature flags and A/B experiments, with results on the same reports.
  • Ask ClickLens: a question in plain English, answered with a chart from your real events.
  • One plan, one bill, in rupees. Events included in every plan, a set number of replays and AI questions with it, UPI or netbanking, and a GST-ready invoice. No per-seat charge, and every feature on every plan.

Side by side

What you care about PostHog Cloud ClickLens
How you're charged Per product, each by usage One plan + extra events

That last group matters: if you need surveys, a built-in warehouse, self-hosting or native mobile SDKs today, PostHog is the better fit, and we'd rather say so.

Who should pick which

  • Pick PostHog if your team is engineering-led, wants to self-host or query everything in SQL, and is comfortable forecasting several usage meters in dollars.
  • Pick ClickLens if you want funnels, retention and replays your PMs and founders will open every day, with one predictable bill in rupees.

Moving over

ClickLens has a JavaScript SDK, a Node.js SDK and a plain HTTP tracking API, so pointing your existing events at it is a small change. Start with the developer quickstart.
